9TH OF DECEMBER

ADVENT (AVENTO): Is a period of WAITING for the LORDS´ COMING
In our Diocese of Gulu, in the first week of Advent FM radio starts playing Christmas songs like O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, Joy to The World, The First Noel and more. These songs wake up Christians and place us in a prayerful space where we recognise our need for spiritual renewal.
The Scripture readings and the homilies enlighten me and help me to ´stay awake´ and to be ´vigilant´ to wait for my Masters´ return even until the dawn. The dawn of; Hope, Sharing, Loving and Forgiveness so that we may receive the peace of Christ in our troubled world.
In my home area of Pabo, before the people had to move to the
camps for displaced peoples for fear of the atrocities committed
by the rebels, both Christians and non-Christians used to
contribute food and money in order to buy an animal for the
Christmas feast. They would choose the house of a family of an
elder or a great grand parent in the neighbourhood and here
they would gather for the Christmas celebration together with
the needy, the vulnerable, the orphans and all were welcomed
and received equally.
From a Sacred Heart Companions family in Pabo in Northern Uganda
First of all I would like to express my
great appreciation to the Almighty Father for joining us together as His family. As we travel towards Christmas this Advent, let us all, please, SH Companions and SHJM family, join hands with one another in our union with Jesus Christ and
Here is my reflection on my chosen theme of interest;
What happens in your country during Advent and Christmas.
Corruption, drinking, fornication, stealing and robbery, misuse of church property and being unfaithful – these things the people are doing in preparation for the ‘coming of Jesus Christ’ , they do these things to motivate their interest in life. But Jesus Christ is not coming for the above mentioned things He is a Saviour, He is coming to save us from our sin.
Let us , this Advent take the time to reflect on the bad things that we may have done in the past and repent!
Love one another
Love the poor
Follow Jesus Christ
